The South Dakota Mines volleyball team lost a close match to Fort Lewis College in 5 sets in RMAC play on Friday night in Durango.
The Skyhawks jumped out of the gate early winning the first two sets 25-23 and 25-16.

With their backs to the wall, the Hardrockers came out and won the third and fourth sets 25-21 and 25-22.

In the fifth and final set, both teams traded leads until Fort Lewis went up 9-8 and then 14-9. The Hardrockers would not give up there, however, cutting the Fort Lewis lead to 14-13, forcing a Skyhawks timeout. Unfortunately, the Hardrockers would be unable to finish off the comeback, falling 15-13 in the third set.

The loss moves the Rockers to 9-10 overall and 3-8 in the RMAC.

The Hardrockers had 49 kills with 46 assists, 21 total blocks, 64 digs, and six aces…Shyann Bastian led the Hardrockers with 15 kills with Dejah Behrend adding 10... Kiley Metzger recorded a double-double with 25 assists and 13 digs, while Sydney Crites also had 13 digs.
