The South Dakota Mines volleyball team lost a close match to Fort Lewis College in 5 sets in RMAC play on Friday night in Durango.
The Skyhawks jumped out of the gate early winning the first two sets 25-23 and 25-16.
With their backs to the wall, the Hardrockers came out and won the third and fourth sets 25-21 and 25-22.
In the fifth and final set, both teams traded leads until Fort Lewis went up 9-8 and then 14-9. The Hardrockers would not give up there, however, cutting the Fort Lewis lead to 14-13, forcing a Skyhawks timeout. Unfortunately, the Hardrockers would be unable to finish off the comeback, falling 15-13 in the third set.
The loss moves the Rockers to 9-10 overall and 3-8 in the RMAC.
