Hardrocker Volleyball Unable to Win 3rd Straight

RAPID CITY, S.D. --- The South Dakota Mines Volleyball teams took on Regis University on Saturday afternoon, looking for their third straight win.

The first set was a battle between the two teams. First, Regis got out to a 6-2 advantage, then an 11-7 advantage before the Hardrockers battled back. A trio of kills by Emma Grimm, Jacey Koethe, and Shyann Bastian got the Hardrockers out to a 13-11 lead. Later, the Hardrockers held a 19-16 lead, before Regis would come storming back to take the set 25-23.
 
The second set started out evenly with each team going back and forth until midway through the set, with the Hardrockers trailing 15-14, Regis would take control and win the set 25-18, after scoring 5 straight points.
 
In the third set, Regis got out to a fast start, taking a 10-2 lead, before the Hardrockers started to fight back, cutting the lead to 12-8. Regis would take over once again, scoring 5 in a row to take a 17-10 lead, and they would maintain the lead winning the third set, 25-13, and the match, 3-0.
 
Leaders
Sydney Crites led the offense with 8 kills….Jacey Koethe recorded 4 blocks….For the first time this season, someone other than Shyann Bastian led the team in assists, with Kassie Luce recording 8 in her first start of the season….Addie Stanley recorded 15 digs.

The South Dakota Mines volleyball team looks to get back to their winning ways next week, taking on MSU Denver and Colorado Christian in a pair of home games Friday and Saturday at 7:00 p.m., and 5:00 p.m.
