THORNTON, Colo. ---- South Dakota Mines sophomore
Bryce Howard got off to a great start Monday on the first day of the Mile High Men's Golf Shootout at Todd Creek Golf Course in Thornton, Colorado, carding a 36-hole, 2-under par 142 and sits in third place heading into the final round.

As a team, the Hardrockers tallied a team total of 621 strokes and are currently in seventh place after playing two rounds during the first meet of the season, hosted by Colorado Christian University.
Howard was in second place on the leaderboard after the first round Monday, posting a score of 70, and then dropped one spot after the second rounds when he put up a 72.
Colorado School of Mines is currently in first place with 577 strokes, Colorado Mesa is second with 595 and Westminster College had 596 strokes for third place.
Oredigger Tim Amudson leads the tournament with a two-day total, five-under par 139, and Zach Slayton of Colorado Christian is sitting in second place, one stroke ahead of Howard with 141 (three under).
As for the rest of the 'Rockers,
Joseph Vincent is in a tie for 33
rd place with a 157 (79-78),
Supawich Boonta shot a 158 (82-76) for 36
th place,
Lane Jensen tallied 161 strokes (80-81) for 38
th place,
Carson McDaniel tied for 39
th place with a 162 (77-85),
Walker Scott carded a 165 (85-80) for 42
nd place, and
Adam Salter (92-75) and
Jake Francis (82-85) shared 43
rd place each posting scores of 167.
The final round of the Mile High Classic concludes Tuesday at Todd Creek Golf Course with an 8 a.m. shotgun start.
