'Rockers Fall Just Short To Yellow Jackets, 60-58

The South Dakota School of Mines women's basketball went toe-to-toe with Black Hills State Friday night in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference regular season finale at the King Center in Rapid City.

With fifth place in the conference standings on the line, the Yellow Jackets outlasted the Hardrockers to win the bout, 60-58.

The Yellow Jackets opened up hot and quickly jumped to a 16-9 lead in the first ten minutes of play. The second quarter was an offensive shoot out with the Hardrockers taking a slight 32-31 lead at half. BHSU came back after half cold and allowed SDSMT to pull ahead by nine. The Yellow Jackets scored 19 points in the fourth frame while SD Mines managed eight points.
The 'Rockers finished the game shooting 34.5 percent, hitting 20-58, including 9-26 from the three-point line and were 9-11 from the foul line. On the night, the Yellow Jackets shot 26 for 60 (43%) with five of those shots coming from downtown. The team didn't have much chances at the charity strip drawing just four fouls shooting 3 for 4 (75 percent).
