RAPID CITY, S.D. --- The South Dakota School of Mines men's basketball team extended its winning streak to five in-a-row and earned a season sweep after a drubbing of the Chadron State Eagles, 83-58, Friday night during a Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference matchup at the King Center in Rapid City, South Dakota.
The win also propelled the 'Rockers into a three-way tie for fourth place in the conference standings as SD Mines, UCCS and Colorado Mesa all have 11-7 records in the RMAC.
SD Mines grabbed an early lead and never trailed in the game. The 'Rockers held a 32-15 advantage at the half and then outscored the visitors, 51-43, in the second period.
The home team shot 68 percent from the field in the second half and ended 55.6 percent for the game, making good on 35-63 attempts, including 6-21 from beyond the arch and were 7-10 from the free throw line. They nabbed 41 rebounds, 13 assists, five steals and four blocked shots.
The Eagles were 21-59 from the field to shoot 35.6 percent, including 12-31 from the three-point line and were 4-10 from the foul line. They hauled in 29 rebounds, notched 13 assists, four steals and a blocked shot.
SD Mines was led by
Allec Williams, who had a season-high 33 points and added five rebounds, one assist and one steal.
Mitchell Sueker added 12 points, eight rebounds and one steal and
Jack Fiddler tacked on 11 markers, five rebounds and two assists.
