Big RMAC Games On Tap For SD Mines MBB; Face Eagles, Roadrunners

RAPID CITY, S.D. --- The South Dakota School of Mines men's basketball team had another great outing last weekend, winning two games at home and climbing up the standings of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. The Hardrockers won their fourth straight and head into this weekend tied for fifth place in the RMCA.

The 'Rockers came back from a 21-point first half deficit to defeat New Mexico Highlands, 101-94, last Friday and then made short work of CSU Pueblo on Saturday, 73-44. As impressive as the offense was on Friday breaching the 100-point mark, the defense was equally jaw-dropping. The 'Rockers did not allow a basket from the Thunderwolves in the second half until midway through the period and went on to hold the visitors to 15 points in the half.

SD Mines is scoring 76.7 ppg and ranked eighth in the RMAC while the defense tops out at No. 3 allowing just 69.2 ppg. Mitchell Sueker, who is this week's RMAC Defensive Player of the Week after scoring 37 points and grabbing 20 rebounds last week, is posting 13.9 ppg. Allec Williams leads the team with 15.7 ppg and Logan Elers scores 11.3 ppg. Jack Fiddler is right up there as well with a 9.2 ppg showing.

This Friday, SD Mines welcomes Chadron State College to the King Center. The Eagles have had a tough go of it this season. Despite being competitive in all their contests, CSS has just a 3-20 overall record and 2-15 mark in the conference --- 16th in the standings. They are on a 10-game losing streak.

The Eagles put up 73.3 ppg while the defense is allowing 80.3 ppg. Brian Rodriguez-Flores leads the team averaging 16.7 ppg while Jacob Jefferson contributes with 11 ppg and Colby Jackson adds 10.6 ppg.

Friday's rivalry game is set for a 7:30 p.m. start and the game will be streamed live on the RMAC Network at: https://portal.stretchinternet.com/sdsmt/ and livestats will be provided at: https://gorockers.com/sidearmstats/mbball/summary .

MSU Denver come to town on Saturday. The Roadrunners will be looking for a little revenge after falling to the Hardrockers in their worse loss of the season just two weeks ago in Denver, Colo. SD Mines busted that game wide open, leading by 43 points early in the second half en route to their first-ever victory on MSU Denver's floor, 80-51.

The Roadrunners are 12th in the conference standings with a 6-11 mark and are 9-14 overall. The rank last in the RMAC in offense, registering 66.5 ppg while the defense is fourth allowing 69.9 ppg. Druce Asah paces the Roadrunners dishing in 12.2 ppg while Garret Carter and Mitch Lombard are both posting around 9 ppg.

Saturday's contest is set for a 6 p.m. start and the game will be streamed live on the RMAC Network at: https://portal.stretchinternet.com/sdsmt/ and livestats will be provided at: https://gorockers.com/sidearmstats/mbball/summary .
