Hardrockers Rattle Off 4th Straight Win, Defeat MSUD, 58-52

DENVER, Colo. --- The South Dakota School of Mines women's basketball team found another level in the fourth quarter as the Hardrockers rallied from 10 points down to defeat the MSU Denver Roadrunnners, 58-52, Friday night during an important Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference matchup in Denver, Colorado.

Midway through the third quarter, SD Mines trailed by 12 points, 35-23, before they were able exploit the Roadrunners defense. First they found ways to the basket in the paint, which in turn opened things up on the perimeter in the fourth quarter.

At the end of the third quarter the Hardrockers had closed the deficit to two points, 39-37, and then turned up the heat in the fourth quarter as the visitors hit five three-pointers in the final 10 minutes and outscored MSUD, 21-13, to take the win and move into a tie for eighth place in the RMAC standings. The Hardrocker have also won their fourth game in a row.
The 'Rockers shot 53.85 percent from the field in the fourth quarter, making good on 7-13 shots (five three-pointers) and ended shooting 36.7 percent in the game, making good on 22-60 attempts, including 8-18 from the three-point line.

The Roadrunners finished the night making good on 22-6 attempts to shoot 29 percent from the field.

Anna Haugen led the way for the 'Rockers and notched her seventh double-double of the season. She tallied 16 points, 12 rebounds and added six steals and one block. Sami Steffeck tallied 15 points and in doing so, became the 28th Hardrocker women's basketball player to reach the 1,000-point milestone in her Hardrocker career.
