PUEBLO, Colo. – The South Dakota School of Mines men's basketball team ran into a bit of a buzz saw Friday night when the Hardrockers went up against CSU-Pueblo during a Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference matchup in Pueblo, Colorado.
The ThunderWolves' offense was red hot and their defense was stifling, as the home team held off the Hardrockers, 84-62, and broke the visitors' three-game win streak.
CSUP shot an incredible 56.7 percent from the field, making good on 29-51 attempts, including 9-18 from three-point range. The Hardrockers finished the game shooting 41.2 percent from the field, converting 28-68 attempts and were just 3-16 from downtown.
The Pack took advantage of a slow start from SD Mines and went on to outscore the 'Rockers, 38-31, in the first half and then bettered the visitors from South Dakota, 44-33, in the second period.
Logan Elers led the way for the Hardrockers with 18 points and seven rebounds.
Allec Williams contributed with 13 points, three rebounds, three steals and one assist.
Mitchell Sueker added 10 points, three rebounds and one blocked shot.
Wilfred Dickson tacked on nine markers.
