The South Dakota School of Mines men's and women's golf teams wrapped up the final day of the Augustana Fall Invite in Sioux Falls, SD.
The Hardrocker men were able to finish in 5th place as a team after two rounds. The 'Rockers posted a score of 309 in the first round and 313 in the second. They finished with a total score of 622. After shooting an impressive second round score of 72, Bryce Howard finished 2nd overall in the Augustana Fall Invite (75-72). Jake Francis also had two notable rounds of golf which placed him at 20th place overall (75-79).
"I am really proud of Bryce Howard's performance as there were a lot of good players in the field and he was able to post two really impressive rounds of play on the weekend", said head coach Luke Wheeler.
Carson McDaniel and Alex Lesselyoung competed as individuals this weekend and both finished in the top 20 overall at 10th and 13th. Lesselyoung had a standout performance in round two after posting a score of 72.
The University of Sioux Falls men's team was able to win the invitational with a total score of 591 after two rounds.
On the women's side the Hardrockers were able to finish 7th overall with a combined score of 683. Emily Schimbeno led the Hardrockers after posting a 2-round score of 159 (82-77). She finished 10th overall.
The University of Sioux Falls was able to also win the invitational on the women's side with a total score of 618.
"We did a lot better today even despite tough conditions and a weather delay", said Wheeler. "I'm proud of the team and how they played."
This invitational wrapped up the fall season for the Hardrocker golf program. They will return to action in the spring as the look to compete in the RMAC championships. "Our fall schedule went well, now it is time to get back to work and get ready for the spring", Wheeler said.
