The South Dakota School of Mines volleyball team is set to open RMAC play this weekend in Utah.
On Friday night, the Hardrockers will face the Westminster Griffins (2-5) in Salt Lake City, Utah at 6p.m. The Griffins are paced offensively by outside hitter Audrey Green who has posted 70 kills on the season, averaging 3.04 kills per set. Setter Aggie Roese-Olsen sets the tempo for the Griffins as she has posted 107 assists on the season.
The Hardrockers will then travel to Saint George, Utah to square off with the Dixie State Trailblazers (5-3). The Trailblazers are led offensively by setter/right side Megan Treanor and outside hitter To'a Faleao, who are averaging 2.82 and 3.20 kills per set. The Trailblazers are coming off a 4-0 weekend of non-conference action in Lubbock, Texas. This could be the final match against the Trailblazers, as they look to leave the RMAC in 2020.
The Hardrocker offense has had a strong, consistent offensive showing from all six of their hitters, as they are averaging 12.4 kills per set, a statistic that has been on the rise throughout the past week of competition. The 'Rockers are led by the outside hitter duo of sophomore Dana Thomson and senior Caryn Hazard. They've posted 144 and 111 kills, respectively.
Freshman Anna Thomas has been a stabilizer for the Hardrocker defense in the libero position as she has tallied 208 digs on the season, a number that places her 2nd among all RMAC liberos.
