Lady 'Rockers vs. Yellow Jackets Matchup: 100th Meeting

RAPID CITY, S.D. --- The South Dakota women's basketball team will hit the road this weekend for its final game of the 2018-19 season and it will be against the Hardrockers' biggest rival --- the Black Hills State Lady Yellow Jackets in the two programs' 100th meeting.

The Yellow Jackets and Hardrockers meet on the court for the second time this season and for the 100th time in program history, when they play on Friday, in a 5:30 p.m. tipoff.  SD Mines leads the series 51-49.

Black Hills State this season has an overall record of 16-9 with a 12-9 conference record. They currently sit in sixth place in the RMAC standing. A win would put them in the playoffs, a loss could result in them not making the tournament.

The Yellow Jackets are 4-1 in their last five game, with wins coming against New Mexico Highlands University (85-52), Chadron State (85-57), Colorado School of Mines (64-51), and University of Colorado at Colorado Springs (72-57). Their lone loss came against Metropolitan State University of Denver (62-50).

Morgan Ham leads the Yellow Jackets in scoring with an average of 13.6 points per game, she also leads the team in rebounds with 128. Julia Seamans follow with an average of 10.7 points per game, she is also the team leader with 75 assists this season.

After earning their first weekend sweep of the season, the 'Rockers moved to an 11-14 overall record (8-13 RMAC), after defeating UCCS (66-59) and Colorado School of Mines (56-54). 

SD Mines is led by Taylor Molstad, who averages 12.7 points per game, to rank 12th in the conference. On defense for the Hardrockers, Anna Haugen averages 8.9 rebounds per game, which in second in the RMAC. Haugen was named the RMAC Defensive Player of the Week on February 25, after recording back-to-back double-doubles in the Hardrockers wins over UCCS and Colorado School of Mines.  As a team, South Dakota Mines has a 34.0 three-point field goal percentage, which is fifth in the conference.
