CHADRON, Neb. --- The South Dakota School of Mines women's basketball team defeated the Chadron State College Lady Eagles, 64-52, Friday night during a Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference matchup on the road in Chadron, Nebraska.
It was a tightly contest contest in the early goings, with the 'Rockers gaining a slight three-point edge after the first quarter, 13-10, and then distanced themselves a little in the second period and went into halftime up by 10 markers, 29-19.
The third stanza saw the Hardrockers continue to use their momentum and outscore the home team, 17-11, and headed into the fourth quarter up, 46-30. The Eagles did manage to outscore the visitors, 22-18, over the final 10 minutes, but the damage had already been done.
SD Mines ended the game shooting 44.2 percent fro the field, making good on 23-52 attempts, including 6-28 from three-point range and converted 12-15 from the free throw line. The 'Rockers secured 32 rebounds, tallied five assists, 11 steals and one block.
The Eagles ended the night making good on 22-59 shots to shoot 37.9 percent from the field, including 3-13 from downtown, 5-6 from the free throw line. They dad 33 rebounds, 12 assists and eight steals.
The 'Rockers were paced by
Sami Steffeck with 21 points, including five of eight from the three-point line, two rebounds and one steal.
Anna Haugen also had an outstanding night with a double-double. She cashed in for 16 points, 14 rebounds, six steals and one assist.
Taylor Molstad tacked on eight points and
Melissa Johnstone registered seven.
