RAPID CITY, S.D. – MSU Denver upped its winning streak to a season-high five games on Friday night, defeating the South Dakota School of Mines women's basketball team, 70-38, Friday during a Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference matchup at the King Center in Rapid City, South Dakota.
MSU Denver jumped out to a 30-18 halftime lead, then ran away with things in the third quarter by outscoring the Hardrockers 20-7 to take a 50-25 lead into the final period.
Against South Dakota Mines (6-12, 3-11), the Roadrunners shot a season-best 51.7 percent from the field, making 30 of 58 shots.
MSU Denver had 13 steals, including a career-best three by Morgan Lewis who scored nine points in only 10 minutes while making 4 of 5 from the field.
The 'Rockers finished the day hitting 13-41 attempts to shoot 31.7 percent from the field, including 5-19 from the three point line and added 7-11 on free throws. SD Mines hauled in 25 rebounds, seven assists, five steals and two blocks.
Sami Steffeck paced the Hardrockers with eight points, six rebounds and one steal.
Melissa Johnstone also recorded eight points while
Taylor Molstad contributed with six points, five rebounds, two assists and one steal. Michael Shaklee finished with five markers.
