Rapid City, S.D.--- The South Dakota School of Mines men's basketball team will continue with the second part of itsfour-game home stand with two Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference matchups scheduled for this weekend at Goodell Gymnasium in Rapid City, South Dakota.
The Hardrockers will play host to MSU Denver on Friday night in a 7:30 p.m. game and then welcome Chadron State Saturday evening at 5:30 p.m.
MSU Denver comes to the King Center with an 8-9 overall record and a 6-7 mark in the RMAC. The Roadrunners are sitting ninth in the conference standings just outside the playoff line.
MSUD has two wins and three losses in their last five games. The losses came against Westminster (74-69), New Mexico Highlands (83-81 2OT), and Colorado School of Mines (77-71). Their wins in the last five came against CSU Pueblo (71-64) and most recently UCCS (93-81).
Druce Asah leads the Roadrunners in scoring with 272 points this season and averaging 17 points per game, Asah has also contributed 54 rebounds and 21 assists. Garrett Carter is sitting on 225 points this season, Carter is averaging 13.2 points per game and he is the team leader in assist with 66. Kendall McIntosh rounds out the top three for MSU Denver, McIntosh has scored 201 points this season, averaging 11.8 points per game and is the team leader in total rebounds with 102 on the season. The Hardrockers have met up with MSUD 13 times in the past, MSUD currently holds the advantage 9-4.
This season Chadron State has an overall record of 10-9, they sit in 7
th place in the RMAC standings with an 8-5 conference record. Chadron State has won four of their last five games. Their four wins have come against Dixie State (64-61), New Mexico Highlands (80-69), CSU-Pueblo (71-62) and UCCS (90-75).
Their lone loss came in their most recent game against Colorado School of Mines, 82-75.
The Eagle are led by Michael Sparks, who has 228 points this season and is averaging 12 points per game. Diontae Champion averages 11.8 points per game, Champion is also the team leader is steals with 25. These two teams have met 173 times overall. Chadron State leads the all-time matchup 112-61.
South Dakota Mines has lost three of its last four games, but that includes a one-point road loss to UCCS and a three-point home defeat to New Mexico Highlands, which is tied for third in the RMAC with UCCS.
Logan Elers is the reigning RMAC defensive player of the week after averaging 15.5 rebounds (along with 10.0 points and 3.5 assists per game).
