Rockers Boast RMAC's Top Defense; Up For Challenging Weekend

RAPID CITY, S.D. --- The South Dakota School of Mines men's basketball team returns home this weekend as they play host to two tough Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference opponents as the Hardrockers play host to Regis University of Friday and Colorado Christian University Saturday.

The Rangers come to the King Center sporting an 8-5 overall record and are fifth in the RMAC standings (5-2). They have lost three of their last five games, falling to UCCS (84-80), Colorado School of Mines (80-73), and Eastern New Mexico University (78-73). The two wins in that stretch came against New Mexico Highlands (93-90) and CSU-Pueblo (84-53).

Jarrett Brodbeck leads the Rangers averaging 18.1 per game and is the RMAC's fifth leading scorer with 235 total markers. Teammate Christian Little has 205 total points this season, averaging 15.8 and leads the team with 3.5 assists per game.

Colorado Christian is a deceptive 2-11 on the year, and head into the weekend on the bottom of the RMAC with a 0-7 blemish. CCU lost their last five games, all coming in RMAC play. The losses came against MSU Denver (77-71), Colorado School of Mines (97-80), UCCS (73-70), CSU-Pueblo (102-62) and most recently New Mexico Highlands University (86-80).

Jeremiah Hanson leads the Cougars in scoring with 176 points this season and averaging 13.5 per game. Braxton Tucker comes in with 163 points this season and leads the team with 13.6 points per game, Tucker also leads the Cougars with 79 rebounds this year. The all-time record between the Hardrockers and CCU currently sits at 2-2.

After picking up a split on the road where the Hardrockers defeated Western State last Saturday in Gunnison, Colorado (84-79), SD Mines enters the weekend with a 6-9 record and are currently 10th with a 3-4 conference mark – one game out of the Top 8.

The Hardrockers still boast the RMAC's best defense, allowing 68.6 points per game while the SD Mines offense is on the other end of the conference standings as the 'Rockers score 65.1 points each game.

SD Mines has four players averaging 10-plus points a game. Mitchell Sueker leads the charge cashing in for 12.3 ppg, Logan Elers puts up 11.3 ppg, Allec Williams averages 11 ppg and Troy Brady cashes in for 10.5.
