RAPID CITY, S.D. --- The South Dakota School of Mines women's volleyball team opened Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play along with its 2018 home opener Friday night hosting Dixie State at the King Center in Rapid City, South Dakota.
It was a heated exchange, but the Trailblazers were able to come away with a 3-0 victory. Dixie defeated the Hardrockers 25-12, 25-21, 25-15. SD Mines finished the match with 23 kills on 121 attacks to go along with 20 assists, 56 digs and three total blocks. The Blazers closed out the bout with 40 kills on 117 attacks, 37 assists, 65 digs and 17 blocks.
Individually for the 'Rockers, freshman
Dana Thomson led the way with nine kills on 44 attacks and 13 digs, while sophomore
Rayleigh Peterson collected six kills and freshman
Shyann Bastian, senior
Anna Breidt and junior
Caryn Hazard each contributed with two kills. Bastian also came up with 11 assists and eight digs and sophomore libero
Tana Dahlberg posted 11 digs in the match.
