RAPID CITY, S.D. --- The South Dakota School of Mines women's volleyball team had their hands full Saturday afternoon as the Lady Hardrockers squared off against the University of Colorado Colorado University Mountain Lions in a Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference match at the King Center in Rapid City, South Dakota.
The Mountain Lions caught SD Mines off guard to win the conference bout, 3-0. UCCS defeated the Hardrockers, 25-20, 25-21, 25-17.
SD Mines tallied 39 kills on 113 attacks to for a .239 hitting percentage. They added 37 assists, 44 digs and five total blocks. UCCS posted 47 kills on 116 attacks, 44 assists, 57 digs and three total blocks.
Heading into the weekend, freshman outside hitter
Dana Thomson was ranked third in the nation in kills per set and continues to impress as the Fruita, Colorado, native collected 19 kills in Saturday match. She had 43 attacks and a .326 hitting percentage, and tacked on eight digs.
SD Mines senior
Anna Breidt also had a good outing with nine kills on 20 attacks for a .450 hitting percentage and she notched three assisted blocks for her squad.
Hardrocker freshman
Shyann Bastian put up 17 assists for her team while junior
Allie Boggs added 14. Senior Allie Wagner led the 'Rockers with 14 digs.
