RAPID CITY, S.D. --- The South Dakota School of Mines women's volleyball team may not have gotten the result they were after Friday night hosting the No. 24 ranked Colorado School of Mines, but the Hardrockers were very competitive and played some of their best volleyball of the season.
The Orediggers were on their heals the entire match trying to withstand the 'Rockers' onslaught, but the visitors proved why they are ranked No. 24 in the nation escaping with a 3-0 win in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference matchup.
Colorado School of Mines defeated the Lady Hardrockers, 25-20, 25-18, 28-26. The Hardrockers ended the match with 26 kills on 106 attacks to go along with 25 assists, 46 digs and nine total blocks. The Orediggers finished with 42 kills on 123 attacks for a .163 hitting percentage. The home team tacked on 38 assists, 53 digs and four total blocks.
Individiaully for the 'Rockers, freshman
Dana Thomson led her team with eight kills on 31 attacks for a .129 hitting percentage and paced SD Mines with 14 digs. Senior
Anna Breidt contributed with six kills on 16 attacks for a .188 hitting percentage and four assisted blocked. Junior
Allie Boggs posted 11 assists for the Hardrockers and freshman
Shyann Bastian added 10.
