Hardrockers Stumble In RMAC Bout Against Orediggers

RAPID CITY, S.D. –The South Dakota School of Mines men's soccer team had a tall order on tap to open Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference as the Hardrockers played host to Colorado School of Mines Friday night at Sioux Park Stadium in Rapid City, South Dakota.

The Orediggers are one of the top teams in the league and they proved why Friday as the visitors posted a 3-0 result in the first game of the conference schedule.

Despite the aggressive style of play from the Orediggers, SD Mines proved to be very competitive. They just couldn't find a way to get through the solid defense of Colorado School of Mines.

In the end, the Orediggers collected 22 shots in the game, 11 were on goal, while SD Mines tallied eight shots on the night, four on goal. The visitors earned one goal in the first half and added two more in the second.

SD Mines Owen Winger paced his team with two shots on goal while Garrett Bonzell and Noah McKenzie each notched one shot on goal. Brenton Brakke, Nicholas House, Cameron Thompson and Sterling McKenzie each were credited with a shot.

Hardrocker goalkeeper Kyle Daledovich was saddled with the loss but came up with eight saves on the night in 90 minutes of play.
