RAPID CITY, S.D. --- It had been six long years since the South Dakota School of Mines women's basketball team and the Dakota State Lady T's had faced each other on the hardwood. The Lady Hardrockers made up for lost times with a complete domination of their old DAC-10 and SDIC rivals, defeating DSU, 101-42, Monday night at the King Center in Rapid City, South Dakota.

The last outing during the 2012-13 season, SD Mines put a hurt on their old foes, defeating them 93-69.

The Hardrockers started fast and before the visitors knew what had happened, had fallen behind, 15-0. SD Mines went on to outscore Dakota State, 26-10, after the first quarter and then mounted a 29-12 second period and went into halftime with a 55-22 advantage.

Things didn't fare much better for the Trojans in the second half as SD Mines' swarming defense allowed just five points in the third quarter and 15 in the final frame. The 'Rockers outscored DSU, 46-20, in the final 20 minutes.

The Hardrockers biggest lead came with 7:28 remaining in the game ahead by 60 points. DSU never led in the game. SD Mines also had a 19-point run midway through the third quarter which help in the victory.

The Lady 'Rockers were unstoppable in transition Monday, netting 29 points off of turnovers. They collected 40 points in the paint and tallied 26 points on the fast break.

The Hardrockers finished the game making good on 39-62 attempts and shot 62.9 percent from the field – that included a 14-23 performance from behind the arc and were a perfect 9-9 from the free throw line. SD Mines came down with 31 rebounds racked up 23 assists and 12 steals.

The Trojans managed a 28.3 shooting percentage and converted 15-53 in the game but was 10-34 from three-point range. They hit 2-2 from the foul line, grabbed 17 rebounds, seven assists and seven steals.

The Hardrockers had six players in double figures. Cooper Courtney paced the team with 17 points, three assists, three steals and two rebounds; Michaela Shaklee had her best game as a Hardrockers with 15 points, three steals and one assist; Taylor Molstad added 14 points, two assists and two rebounds; Sami Steffeck and Anna Haugen both collected 11 markers; and Ryan Weiss cashed in for 10 points.
