Dustdevils Swept Away By Hardrockers, 68-42

RAPID CITY, S.D. --- The South Dakota School of Mines men's basketball team fired off 10 points to open Saturday's non-conference game before the Texas A&M International Dustdevils knew what was happening.

The Hardrockers never trailed in the game and finished out the bout with a 26-point tilt, 68-42, at the King Center in Rapid City, S.D.

SD Mines is now 2-0 on the season. It's the first time since the 2009-10 campaign that the 'Rockers have accomplished that and the first as a NCAA Div. II program.   

The Hardrockers met little opposition Saturday leading by as much as 29 points with 5:55 remaining in the second half. The home team finished the game shooting 47.2 percent from the field, making good on 25-53 attempts and were 7-19 from three-point range. They shot 1117 from the free throw line to shoot 64.7 percent.

The Dustdevils converted 14-44 from the field to shoot 31.8 percent from the field and hit 7-18 from the three-point line. The visitors were 7-11 from the foul line.

Turnovers played a big factor in the outcome as SD Mines rolled up 30 points off turnovers to just seven for TAMI. The 'Rockers earned 36 points in the paint and had 24 markers from the bench.

SD Mines led at the half, 34-17, and then dublicated that in the second half, 34-25.

Individually, the Hardrockers were paced by Troy Brady with 11 points, four assists and four steals while Jake Heath and Allec Williams both tallied nine points. Logan Elers tacked on eight points and eight rebounds and Jack Fiddler came through with eight points, two steals and one assist.
