DURANGO, Colo. --- The South Dakota School of Mines volleyball team was in a heated competition when the Lady Hardrockers challenged the Fort Lewis College Skyhawks Saturday evening in Durango, Colorado, in a Rocky Mountain Conference matchup.
The Hardrockers put up a good fight but the Skyhawks came out on top in this meeting, 3-0. Fort Lewis College defeated SD Mines, 25-22, 25-12, 21-25, 25-17. The 'Rockers closed out the game with 53 kills on 182 attacks for a .187 hitting percentage. They added 52 assists, 82 digs and five total blocks. The Skyhawks finished with 62 kills on 171 attacks for a .269 hitting percentage, 57 assists, 96 digs and four total blocks.
Individually for the 'Rockers, freshman
Dana Thomson tallied 17 kills on 45 attacks for a .222 hitting percentage and came up with 12 digs. Senior
Anna Breidt delivered 13 kills on 43 attacks for a .209 hitting percentage. Sophomore
Rayleigh Peterson contributed with nine kills and junior
Hannah Stevenson added eight kills.
Freshman setter
Shyann Bastian was responsible for 43 of the Hardrockers 52 assists and also came up with 10 digs. Sophomore
Tana Dahlberg led SD Mines with 21 digs.
