RAPID CITY, S.D. – The South Dakota School of Mines women's volleyball team will hit the road again this weekend, this time though to start Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play.
As the Lady 'Rockers prepare for yet another challenge on the road, SD Mines is very familiar with what it takes to play while traveling.
The Hardrockers have been on the go for the last eight matches and now set their sights on picking up another win after closing out the non-conference schedule with a big victory.
Last weekend the Lady 'Rockers got a little revenge on Minot State University, defeating the Lady Beavers in three straight sets last Saturday at the Northern State Dacotah Bank Classic in Aberdeen, S.D. The Hardrockers also got some much needed experience in playing nationally ranked No. 23 Northern State University.
SD Mines opens RMAC play Friday against the Adams State Grizzlies in Alamosa, Colo. Adams State has had a decent start to the season winning four out of nine games and are currently on a two-game win streak. The Lady 'Rockers will look to slow down Mallory Grimsrud and Hannah Goddard who lead Adams State in points.
SD Mines then travels to Fort Lewis College on Saturday to face the Skyhawks. Fort Lewis has had a hot start to the season and are off to a 5-3 record. The Skyhawks will look to use their leading scorers Bailey Longacre and Maddie LaBlanc to set the tempo. The Hardrockers will hope to counter their attack with
Emily Newton and
Anna Breidt who lead the Hardrockers in blocks.
Friday's match is slated for a 7 p.m. (MST) start while Saturday's contest is at 5 p.m.  MST). Watch both matches and follow along with the livestats by logging onto:
