Box Score It looked like senior night would be a promising night and a memorable upset for the six Hardrocker men's basketball seniors Saturday. Instead, the inability to finish games that Mines coach
Jason Henry has talked about before bit Mines again.
MSU-Denver defeated Mines 76-62 despite the Hardrockers scoring the first 13 points of the game.
"They're a very good team," Henry said. "They're big and strong, they don't leave gaps and they're long. That's what makes that team go. They've done that to many teams. I thought we had a chance to do some things, knock down some open shots but we couldn't do that either."
Sunday Derch and Allec Williams led the way for the Roadrunners by scoring 23 points each. Konor Kulas led the way for Mines with 19 points and nine rebounds.
After trailing 13-0, MSU-Denver went to work. With 11:49 left in the first half, the score was cut to 21-8. By the 7:56 mark, the Roadrunners had the lead to single digits at 28-21, and at the 3:53 mark Mines only led 30-29. Both teams were tied 35-35 heading into the locker room for halftime.
