RAPID CITY, S.D. --- The South Dakota School of Mines women's basketball team are 4-0 on the season for the first time since the 2005-06 season after defeating the Grace University Lady Royals, 89-45, Saturday afternoon during a non-conference bout at the King Center in Rapid City, S.D.
The Hardrockers got off to another quick start, jumping out to a 26-13 lead, and outscored the Royals, 21-11 in the second half as SD Mines held a 23-point edge at halftime, 47-24. The Hardrockers continued the offensive surge in the second half, bettering their Nebraska opponents, 21-13, to go into the fourth quarter up by 31, 68-37. In the final frame, SD Mines outscored Grace, 21-8.
SD Mine shot 53.8 percent from the field Saturday hitting 35-65 attempts, including seven from three point range and a 12-15 performance from the free throw line. The 'Rockers came down with 36 rebounds, had 20 assists, 12 steals and two blocks.
The Royals made good on 17-59 attempts to shoot 29 percent from the field. They had four three-pointers, were 7-9 from the foul line, came down with 25 rebounds, six assists, nine steals and one block.
 Individually, sophomore Anna Haugen led the scoring with 15 points, eight rebounds, three steals and three assists. Junior Taylor Molstad contributed with 14 points, sophomore Cooper Courtney added 10 markers and sophomore Sami Steffeck tacked on nine points. Senior Krista Showalter was excellent at distributing the ball notching a game-high six assists.
The 'Rockers will next travel to Billings, Mont., for a Tuesday meeting against the MSUB Yellowjackets in a 5:30 p.m. bout.
