Box Score San Angelo, Texas --- The SD Mines women's volleyball team gave it a good effort during the second match of the day at a tournament at Angelo State in San Angelo, Texas, but just couldn't quite get a good streak going as the Hardrockers fell to St. Edward's University, 3-0.
The Hilltoppers defeated the Lady Hardrockers, 25-22, 25-19, 25-22.
"A lack of consistency hurt us. We had leads in each of the first two sets but didn't hang on long enough. Our biggest downfall was a lack of offense," said Hardrocker head coach
Doug Tabbert. "We didn't have a consistent attack. They put more pressure on us than we put on them."
SD Mines ended the match going 128-150 on the attack with 48 kills with 43 assists and came away with 88 digs and 14 total blocks. St. Edwards had 27 kills and was 127-144 on the attack with 25 assist and tallied 74 digs and seven total blocks.
"The good news for us is that we held their best attacker to .042. Unfortunately, we let someone we didn't expect to be a key attacker hit .306," Tabbert added. "We have plenty to learn and we'll speed that process up as fast as we can."
Junior
Emily Newton paced the Hardrockers with nine kills and was 19-21 on the attack and had three blocks while sophomore
