RAPID CITY, S.D. – The South Dakota School of Mines men's basketball team will play host to the Presentation College Saints Saturday evening in a 5 p.m. game at the King Center in Rapid City, S.D.
The Hardrockers are on a three-game win streak after an impressive road win Tuesday night against the University of Mary Marauders at Bismarck, N.D. SD Mines flexed their offensive muscles in the second half of play to win by 15 points, 77-63.
The victory gives SD Mines a 3-2 overall record after opening the season with two losses down in Texas. SD Mines won both home games last weekend, separating themselves from their opponents in the second half of each game to notch the wins. The Hardrockers are averaging 72.4 points per game, getting a lot of excellent production both on the perimeter and in the paint.
SD Mines senior
Konor Kulas is having a stellar start to the season, averaging 22.4 points per game and 9.8 rebounds per game to pace the squad.
Junior
Brian Orr is also off to a great start, knocking down 13.4 points per game. Seniors
Jamall Taylor and
Marco Pascolo have been picking up steam over the past two weeks for the Hardrockers and are accounting for 10.6 points each per game.
SD Mines freshman
Jake Heath is really coming into his own as college player. He's worked his way into the starting lineup with an excellent touch from the outside. Through five games, Heath has 33 points, averaging 6.6 points per game.
Presentation heads into the weekend with a 2-4 overall mark. The Aberdeen, S.D., team will face Black Hills State Friday night in Spearfish before competing against SD Mines. The Saints have a lot of firepower averaging 87 points per game with five players averaging double-digit points each time out.
