Hadrocker Men Host Home Opener This Weekend

RAPID CITY, S.D. --- The South Dakota School of Mines men's basketball season is just beginning. Last weekend the SD Mines men's hoopsters opened their season with a road trip to southern Texas for matchups against Texas A&M International followed by Texas A&M Kingsville.
 
The Hardrockers were unable to pick up a win in either of these opening road contests, falling in International, 78-68, and came up short to Kingsville, 72-62. 
 
Senior Konor Kulas averaged 24 points and nine rebounds through the opening weekend to set the pace for the Hardrockers. Junior Brian Orr also made an impact on the score sheet as he posted 15 points in each game.
 
This weekend the Hardrockers start off their home campaign. Friday night at 6 p.m., the 'Rockers will host the Grace University  Royals of Omaha, NE. Grace has already played eight games this season and posted a 3-5 record. They have lost three of their past four games.
 
SD Mines plays host to Johnson & Wales University on Saturday, looking to spoil the Hardrockers home-opening weekend. The Wildcats have started their season nearly the same as Grace, with a 3-5 record and have also lost three of the past four games. Tipoff against Johnson & Wales is at 4 p.m. on Saturday.
 
There are just four games left for the Hardrockers before they open play in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.?
