Wide receivers coach and recruiting coordinator Justin Udy is entering his third season with the Hardrocker football program.
Tinker’s and Udy’s history together goes beyond just last season at SD Mines.
“I had the privilege of playing under Coach Tinker in my time at Eastern Oregon University. (Tinker) has been an outstanding leader and mentor that helped me achieve goals not only on the field, but most importantly in the classroom,” Udy said.
Prior to his time at SD Mines Udy worked at his Alma Mater, Eastern Oregon University. While coaching at EOU from 2011-2015, Udy worked in several different positions including assistant head coach, special team coordinator and wide receivers coach.
“Justin Udy is a tremendous mentor to the young men of the Hardrocker program at SD Mines,” Tinker said. “When I coached Justin at EOU, I knew he had the makings of an outstanding coach someday. I have been so impressed with how quickly he has grown in the profession and I have the highest level of trust that he is the right man to lead Air Rock into the RMAC1nvasion.”
Tinker continued, “He and his fiancé, Shannon, are exemplary citizens of Rapid City and have embraced the vibe of the Black Hills region.”
With Udy’s positive outlook and energetic attitude toward the success of the program, his second year should certainly net some good results.
“The program that is in place here at SD Mines is designed around our players’ success in the classroom and community. This Hardrocker football family will be one that alumni and the Rapid City community can be proud to call their own,” Udy said.
Head Coach Zach Tinker's comments: "Justin Udy is set to have a huge impact on the High Octane Rocker offense in 2017. Coach Udy has proven himself to be an elite recruiter and will continue to build on the success of his first season as leader of the offensive unit."
