STURGIS, S.D. – South Dakota Mines Cross Country started the 2026 campaign with two second place finishes at the Gage McSpadden Memorial Invite on Friday.
The Hardrocker men's team picked up second place with an average time of 19:25 in the 6k.
Jack Errea led the men with fifth place out of 37 runners. His time of 19:06.9 marked a new career best.
Owen Johnson,
Evan Valencia,
Luke Seuntjens and
Tanner Reinert all finished in 10
th through 13
th for the Hardrockers.
On the women's side, the Rockers averaged a 15:40 in the 4k for second place.
Newcomer
Kailey Winter led the team with eighth place, running a 15:24.6.
Lundi Ferrier picked up 10
th and
Clare Fischer collected 11
th.
Addison Smetana placed 16
th and
Leelou Novotny finished in 21
st.
What's Next
The Rockers will host the Bauer XC Classic on Sept. 18 at Hart Ranch. After three weeks off, they will go to the Holiday Inn Express Classic in Sioux Center, Iowa, on Oct. 10.
