LAS VEGAS, Nev. --- Despite windy conditions, the Hardrocker Golf teams are off to a good start on Day 1 of their spring season.
The women's golfers shot a combined 346 and are sitting in 3rd, just 5 strokes back after the first round.
Annika Schooler and
Rianna Garland were shooting hot sticks all day carding an 80 (+8) and an 81 (+9) to sit in first and second overall among females. Rounding out the team were
Mya Maxwell,
Jessalyn Shipp, and
Lora Ortega who finished with scores of 88, 97, and 101 respectively.
Portia Lenczowski and
Julia Sabetti, playing as individuals shot 97 and 104 on the day.
Among 15 teams on the men's side, the Hardrocker men currently sit in a tie for 5th. Despite being in 5th, they are just 4 shots back of the first-place team after shooting a 308 in the first round.
Bryce Howard had a nice first round, capped off by a chip-in for birdie on the 11th hole. Overall, he is sitting in a tie for 5th, shooting a 1-over par 73 to sit in a tie for 5th place. Also finishing the first round in the top 15 was
Joseph Vincent, shooting a 4-over 76. The remainder of the team was made up of
Lane Jensen (79, +7),
Jake Francis (80, +8), and
Roger Nakagawa (89, +17). The men also had individuals, with
Brett Elkin shooting a 79 (+7).
Braydon Jones, making his collegiate debut shot a 14-over 86 and
Carson McDaniel shot a 15-over 87.
