Hardrockers Hire New Cheer Coach

RAPID CITY --- South Dakota School of Mines Athletics Director Joel Lueken is pleased to announce the hiring of Eva Wasielewski as the new Hardrocker cheerleading coach for the 2019-20 season.

"We are excited to add Coach Eva Wasielewski to the Hardrocker Family", Lueken said.  "I am confident that she will be a great mentor for these young women and young men, as well as bring lots of positive energy to this program."

Wasielewski currently is the Sustainability Coordinator/ Adjunct Lecturer at Black Hills State University.  In this role she develops, leads and educates a campus wide sustainability program, while also mentoring undergraduate interns and graduate assistants.  On top of her position at Black Hills State, she has also been an ice-skating coach through the City Rapid City Parks and Recreation since 2018.

Wasielewski received her bachelor's degree in Geography from Slippery Rock University. She then went on to complete her master's degree in Environmental Management in 2018 from Hardin-Simmons University.

"I am so excited and honored to become a part of the Hardrocker team," Wasielewski said. "SD Mine's scholar-athletes have drive, passion and talent like no other and I am thrilled to have the opportunity to lead and mentor this great group of students. Cheerleading has the power to take the atmosphere of a game to another level, and this team will bring that enthusiasm to Hardrocker athletics. I'm looking forward to a great season cheering on our football and basketball teams. Go 'Rockers!"
