LAKEWOOD, Colo. --- The South Dakota School of Mines men's golf team finished in ninth place at the Bob Writz Men's Golf Invitational hosted by Colorado School of Mines at Bear Creek Golf Course in Lakewood, Colorado.
The Hardrockers improved their Day 2 team score by 18 strokes, posting a 320 from Saturday (338) which brought the team's overall score to 658 strokes for the tournament.
Colorado School of Mines won the team competition with a two-day score of 605, Colorado Mesa carded a 610, CSU-Pueblo was one stroke back in third with 611 strokes adn Colorado Christian put up a 616 for fourth place.
In the individual division, University of Colorado's Victor Bjorlow took top honors with a one-under-par 36-hole score of 143 while teammate John Paterson took second with a 146. Alan Berry of Colorado School of Mines finished third with a 147 and Andrew Lafferty of Colorado, TIm Amundson of CSM, Nathan McCann of CSUP and Cullen Plousha of CU all tied for fourth place each carding two-day scores of 148.
SD Mines lowest score was posted by
Lane Jensen (85-77) and
Jake Francis (80-82) --- both registering total scores of 162 to share 45th place while
Bryce Howard (86-79) and
Roger Nakagawa (77-88) both tied for 54th place each carding two-day scores of 165.
Ben Unruh posted a 169 (87-82) for 64th place,
Steven Bendt finished the tournament in 65th place with 170 strokes (87-83), and
Carson McDaniel was one spot back in 66th position with a 171 (83-88).
