RAPID CITY, S.D. – South Dakota School of Mines golf head coach
Luke Wheeler is pleased to announce the signing of two new recruits into the Hardrocker golf program as Walker Scott will be added to the 2020-21 men's roster and Rianna Garland will join the women's golf team.
Scott is from Eaton, Colorado, where he attends Eaton High School where he lettered in golf and basketball all four years. Scott was named All-Conference for three years and All-State honorable mention his junior and senior seasons.
"We are very excited to have Walker apart of the Hardrocker golf family," Coach Wheeler said. "He is a young man that is very goal oriented and he is going to do great things while on the campus of SD Mines."
Scott will be pursuing a major in Biomedical Engineering.
"I can't wait to further my academic and athletic career as a 'Rocker," Scott said."
Garland comes to SD Mines from Mesa AZ. Where she is a senior at Desert Ridge High School and was the captain of the Desert Ridge Jaguars this past fall.
Garland finished her senior season with an 18
th-place finish at the Arizona High School State Championships.
"We are excited to have Rianna join the Hardrocker family," Wheeler said. "She is one of the top players in Arizona and she will compete for a top spot as a freshman for the Hardrockers."
While attending SD Mines, Garland is planning to major in Chemical Engineering.
"I am excited to start a new chapter of my life at SD Mines," Garland said."
