Hardrockers Don't Have Far To Go For Dickinson's Meet This Weekend

RAPID CITY, S.D. --- The South Dakota School of Mines men's and women's golf teams were set to travel to Dickinson, ND this weekend to participate in the Dickinson State Spring Invite Dickinson. However, the event has been moved and now will be hosted in Rapid City, SD at Arrowhead Country Club.

The event will take place on Sunday and run through Monday, with tee times set for 8 a.m. both days. This event will be followed by a women's only event on Tuesday April 9th at 9am. The women will travel out to Spearfish, SD to partake in an event hosted by Black Hills State University, the event will be played at Spearfish Canyon Country Club.

Two weeks ago the men's team traveled down to Golden, CO to play in the Bob Writz Invite hosted by Colorado School of Mines at the Bear Creek Golf Club. As a team they finished in ninth, after the first day the team shot a 338 and a 320 on the second day giving them a combined score of 658.

Lane Jensen and Jake Francis both posted the lowest score for the Hardrockers with a 162 and tying each other for a share of 45th place. Jensen finished with a first round score of 85 and a second round of 77, where Francis finished with an 80 on Day 1 and an 82 on Day 2.

Bryce Howard and Roger Nakagawa also shared a spot, both finishing in 54th place with Howard shooting 86-79 and Nakagawa shooting 77-88 --- each recording  scores of 165.

Ben Unruh finished the two day tournament with a total score of 169 (87-82) earning 64th place. Steven Bendt shot a 87-83 giving him a two-day total of 170 and finished the event in 65th place. Carson McDaniel finished just behind Bendt with a two-day score of 171 (83-88).

The women's team haven't hit the links in a competitive setting since March 12th-13th when the Hardrockers traveled to Las Vegas, NV to take part in the Winona State Vegas Invite at Stallion Mountain Golf Club.

The Lady 'Rockers finished the event in seventh place shooting a team score of 356 on the first day and a 410 on the second day for a combined score of 766.

Nicole Schrader was the lowest scorer for the Hardrockers, shooting an overall score of 181 (90-91) giving her a share of 20th place. McKinley Harm recorded a two-day score of 198 (91-107) finishing in 37th place. Alexandra Rauert finished close behind in 39th with and overall score of 201 (97-104). Mya Ostrom came in 42nd with a score of 210 (102-108). Emily Schimbeno also competed in the event but had to withdraw after the first day due to injury.
